Five electric ceramic turntables, five wool skirts, wood, timer program.
Duration of the choreography: 9 min. (spins alternate every minute in groups of two, three, four, or five skirts). Electronics and programming: Hacendera Abierta.

Paisanaje y paisaje (Local Scenary and Landscape) is an installation composed of five skirts from different Spanish regions and five electric potter’s wheels. By means of a computer program, the lathes turn or stop synchronizing a choreography that shows the flight of the skirts, their shapes and colors.

This work wants to reflect on how the notion of local scenary, linked to circular time, ritual and territory, became linear time, folklore and landscape. In this sense, it is important to mention a quote from the writer Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio that appears in Vendrán más años malos y nos harán más ciegos which says: “This is what the countryside was like I don’t know how many years ago, when it was still countryside, real countryside, and not landscape. This is what the countryside was like, yes, in truth, the countryside; it was not looked at, it was only seen”.
